Janalyn R.W. Scott

Mrs. Scott is a Buncombe County native, having grown up in Asheville, North Carolina .  She earned her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in 1999 and a graduate degree from Western Carolina University in 2001.  She then obtained her law degree from Appalachian School of Law, which is located in Grundy, Virginia.  She has been a valued member of the firm since June, 2007.


Mrs. Scott concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial and residential real estate transactions.  She also focuses on estate planning, such as the drafting of wills and trusts, and general business, including the creation of business entities.


Mrs. Scott is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.  She is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property Section and Young Lawyers Division, the North Carolina Bar Association, the 28th Judicial District Bar, and the North Carolina State Bar.

Barrett W. McFatter

Mr. McFatter joined the firm in January of 2010 as a paralegal while preparing for and taking the North Carolina Bar Exam in August of 2010. He passed the North Carolina Bar and was sworn in as a licensed attorney in the State of North Carolina in September of 2010. Mr. McFatter did an outstanding job for the firm as a paralegal focusing on real estate matters and is now concentrating his legal practice in that area as well as in the areas of general business matters and estate planning. He has clearly proven to be an outstanding attorney and is well liked and respected by the Firm's clients. Mr. McFatter has an undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and a law degree from Mississippi College of Law. He is a native of Black Mountain, NC.

Mr. McFatter has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and is a member of the American Bar Association's Real Property Section and Young Lawyers Division, the North Carolina Bar Association, the 28th Judicial District Bar, and the North Carolina State Bar.

Staff

The Firm is ably staffed by two excellent paralegals.  Debbie Roberson has been with the Firm since 1993 and is very experienced in estate planning and estate administration matters.  In addition,she handles the accounting for the Firm's trust account through which all real estate funds pass.

Elizabeth Hix has been with the Firm since 2008 and handles real estate matters. She is a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker and has worked as a real estate agent broker before joining the firm. She is very knowledgeable in real estate from both an agent's point of view as well as the legal point of view.
